Founded in 1970, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, a/k/a Jazz Fest, is a cultural feast in which thousands of musicians, cooks and craftspeople welcome 400,000 visitors each year. The festival showcases unforgettable music on multiple stages, delicious Louisiana cuisine in two large food areas, and crafts artisans from the region and around the world demonstrating and selling their work. The Louisiana Heritage Fair is held at the Fair Grounds Race Course over 7 days spanning 2 weekends. In 2024 those are: Friday, April 26 – Sunday, April 28 and Thursday May 2 – Sunday May 5, 2024.
JazzFest is owned and managed by the non-profit New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

THE FOOD HERITAGE STAGE offers visitors an opportunity to watch some of Louisiana’s best chefs in action. It is an exciting way to learn more about (and maybe sample!) some of the region’s rich cultural heritage. The demonstrators will celebrate the amazing seafood and other local ingredients that make our area so special, while showcasing modern takes on classic dishes.
BEGINNING IN THE EARLY ‘70s WITH A HANDFUL OF ARTISANS – from self-taught painter and street preacher Sister Gertrude Morgan, to acclaimed jewelry designer Mignon Faget and Louisiana Coushatta basket weavers – the Festival’s Crafts now include the diverse works of hundreds of regionally and nationally acclaimed artists in multiple distinct event venues.
Each year's festival includes an area of distinct cultural villages to visit and learn...

Now you can buy online: clothing, posters, and live recordings from past Jazz Fests online.
Sheraton New Orleans (500 Canal Street) is the official hotel of The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. That is where the shuttle departs for the Fair Grounds each day.
There are numerous hotels that offer a JazzFest rate. You can see a list of them. Note: You should ask them directly about 2024 prices. At the moment, the page shows 2023 rates, and therefore, might say "No longer available."
This is not an official online property of The Jazz & Heritage Foundation. It does contain accurate information culled from the official website and other sources. I edited/rewrote some text for precision. It also culled photos and video from the Foundation's site and Instagram account.
The purpose of this one-page site is to demonstrate an "Off-Season" mode of JazzFest--the period beginning a month after the annual event, until the next fest is open for ticketing (and the music roster is posted).
